Coming home to Germany – where safety is in the DNA

The DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) brings a perfect blend of a long tradition in industrial automation and robotics with a passionate and almost religious approach to safety. Sonair has now started the journey of introducing its 3D ultrasonic sensor technology to the German-speaking markets in Europe.

“ADAR from Sonair enables safe human-robot interaction and makes autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) more efficient and affordable. Meanwhile, safety is on top of the agenda for the robotics industry in the DACH region. So, this is a great match,” says Knut Sandven, CEO of Sonair.

Here’s how Sonair is coming home:

  • Several companies in the region are already part of Sonair’s Early Access Program – testing the 3D ultrasonic technology in real-life environments.
  • The media is taking notice, including the leading publication Logistik Heute, that wrote this article.
  • And Sonair featured as "Startup of the Month" in inVISION magazine, at page 65. Read the full magazine here.
  • Sonair is currently working with Germany-based exida the world’s leading product certification and knowledge company, to obtain the SIL2/Pl d safety certification for ADAR, the 3D ultrasonic sensor from Sonair. The purpose of the certification is to confirm that the system meets strict EU safety requirements for functional safety and significantly reduces the risk of failures in safety-critical applications.
  • Sonair will be exhibiting for the first time in Germany at Automatica in Munich (June 24-27, 2025), running a live demo at the booth.
  • Sonair will also be present at Oxidize in Berlin (Sept 16-18, 2025), an event aimed at Rust (programming language) developers, organized by our partner Ferrous Systems (headquartered in Berlin).
